Now, there are those who say the best sleepwear is none at all. They say there’s nothing comfier than your own birthday suit, and nothing’s sexier on someone else than theirs. But we’re not those people. We like a little mystery, a little support, and OK, sometimes “things” can get a little drafty when you’re in the all-together. There, we said it. And spiffy pajamas are especially welcome at a hotel – ask anyone who’s ever worked in housekeeping or room service…
So at The Burrard, there were fist-pumps all round when Vancouver-based sleepwear designers Paper Label chose to shoot their Spring 2014 collection in one of our retro hotel rooms. In fact, we think their line is a perfect match for us – modern shapes with vintage touches, a designer look with practical comforts, not to mention top-notch value. And don’t even get us started on those pink floral leggings – we can’t guarantee they won’t make an appearance while grocery shopping. While you’re in Vancouver, might as well pick up something from Paper Label at Hudson’s Bay and call it a souvenir.READ MORE
You might have heard that Vancouver is sometimes referred to as “Hollywood North” because of the number of movies and TV shows shot in the city. You’ve probably groaned at how corny that nickname is – we sure have. But the fact remains: wander Vancouver’s streets on any given week, and you’ll literally stumble across tell-tale giant white crew trucks, catering services vehicles, and all manner of lighting cords. If you’re interested in what’s shooting in town while you’re in Vancouver, check this list.
The Burrard has been used as a filming location on many occasions, but most recently, we showed up on the season two premiere of Canadian-produced detective show, Motive, which airs on CTV here in Canada, and on ABC in the US. We know, it’s not normal to brag about your hotel being a crime scene (even if it’s a make-believe one), but there are some killer shots of our lovely courtyard. And our retro hotel rooms? Apparently people are just dying to get in them. Even our coffee shop, Betty, made an appearance, masquerading as a vegan restaurant. And you’ll see some nice views of Vancouver’s sea wall in there too. If you missed the episode, you can watch it on the CTV site if you’re in Canada.READ MORE
We recently had Max Hartshorne from GoNomad.com stay with us here at The Burrard, and we’re pretty darn happy to share his article with you! Turns out we share the same views on hotel amenities: we’re happy to skip doormen, but no-deal on economising on free wifi and in-room coffee perks. What can we say? We’re with you, Max!
Along with recommending some good value dining spots, Max also gives the thumbs-up to a couple of our favourite Vancouver attractions: Stanley Park – the “amazing 1000-acre park, right smack dab in the urban center,” and the killer combo of an Aquabus ride over the Granville Island followed by an Edible Canada tour of the public market.

They are Cory Woodward, Ryan McMahon and Christopher Arruda, described as “3 big voices singing honest songs”….. they are The Lion The Bear The Fox.
I got to meet them a little while ago at The Burrard Hotel for a party in the hotel’s courtyard and it will be a night I shall not forget. These big voiced boys are heartfelt, funny HILARIOUS, friendly, welcoming, passionate, kick-ass wicked dudes you wanna have over to your place for a beer drinking barn-burner of a party….those are the kinda guys LBF are. And when I say they have big voices, the night of the show there were people next door, in another hotel, 20 storeys up enjoying the sweet sounds. This time around, stuck in a hotel room (a nice one at that), BC BuzZ takes you into the life of 3 solo artists (and friends) that have joined forces to breathe fire into the BC music scene.
Stomp your feet, clap your hands and get ready for 3 thunderous voices that make up The Lion The Bear The Fox!
