508 Davie Street – Yaletown, 778.371.3266
Distance: 5-minute walk
Price: Pitas and salads ~ $17 – $19
Healthy, fresh Lebanese food with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Everything is available for take-out, including their fresh juices. Nuba has three other locations around town – Gastown, Mount Pleasant and Kits.

1030 Mainland Street – Yaletown, 604.423.5849
Distance: 10-minute walk
Price: $17 – $19 for a salad
Super-creative (and very Instagram-worthy) salads, with lots of vegetarian options. There’s usually a couple of soup options each day as well. They have a couple of other downtown locations, as well as a salad shop in Mount Pleasant.

1401 Granville Street – West End, 604.225.8107
Distance: 10-minute walk
Price: Burgers ~ $16
Just under the Granville Bridge (still on the downtown side), Monzo Burger is like stepping back into 1980s Italy. Expect an excellent burger, beef fat fries, and soft serve gelato that would make nonna proud.

Ferry Dock Shipping Container (no address) – Granville Island, no phone
Distance: 15-minute walk (including a trip on a False Creek passenger ferry), 10-minute drive
Price: $17 – $18 for sandwiches, $19 – $25 for fish and chips
A collaboration between three of Vancouver’s favourite chefs, this waterfront shipping container is home to a 100% local, organic, and sustainable menu of fast food favourites. Dessert has to be one of their “puffcreams” – a soft-serve sundae in a cream puff shell.

8 West Cordova Street – Gastown, 604.559.1122
Distance: 25-minute walk
Price: Pizza and pastas ~ $24 – 28
With a caffe on one side and a ristorante on the other, you can choose whether to grab-and-go, or linger longer. Di Beppe specializes in Roman-style pizza – the kind available by the metre – as well as delicious, unpretentious pastas. We’re also seduced by the cute, house-bottled cocktails on offer.
