Yes, there will most definitely be “April showers” in Vancouver, but there will also be April sunshine, April bike rides, and April patio drinks. This month marks a transition for the city as we put away our winter coats (though not yet our umbrellas!) and break out the sunglasses. The streets are full of cherry blossoms, but head inside and you’ll still find lots of arts and cultural activities to keep you entertained whatever the weather. Below are some of our top picks for things to do in Vancouver in April.

Vancouver Canadians Baseball at Nat Bailey Stadium
Season starts April 9
The bases will be loaded, the local craft beer will be flowing, and the hot dogs will be sizzling… it’s time to play ball! Starting the season in April, Vancouver Canadians baseball games at “the Nat” are a quintessential spring/summer experience here in the city. The Canadians are the High-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and game start times vary, with some “nooner” games, and others starting late in the day. But you can always bet on a race between sushi-costumed mascots (like we said, it’s a very Vancouver experience) and plenty of good cheer to go around.

2024 HUMP! Film Festival (Part One) at The Rio
April 11 – 13
Brought to you by Dan Savage, this annual 19+ film festival is definitely NSFW. HUMP! features 24 brand-new (some would say brand-spanking new) erotic films compiled into one feature-length presentation. Created by real people and for real people, the collection of short films covers kinks, erotica, and lots of hilarious adult content in a way that is sex-positive, diverse and casts a wide net over human pleasure. Each showing within the April run includes the same 24 films, but stay tuned for Part Two of the festival coming to Vancouver in the fall.

BC Distilled Artisan Distillery Festival
April 13
Bringing together 200 of British Columbia’s finest tipples from 30 of our province’s best small-scale distilleries, BC Distilled is a spirit lover’s dream! The main tasting on April 13 brings together all of the distilleries—plus non-alcoholic options—with all samples included in the ticket price. But that’s not the only event on offer: this year sees whisk(e)y tasting classes on April 10 and 11, and a distillers’ dinner at Forage restaurant on April 12.

Coast City Country Music Festival
April 19 & 20
Offering a celebration of “country in the city”, Coast City Country brings some big names to Vancouver this month. Headlining the main stage at BC Place Stadium will be Luke Bryan, Nickelback and Dierks Bentley supported by the likes of Elle King, Bailey Zimmerman and Brett Young. And beyond the stage, festival-goers get to enjoy an in-stadium craft beer and whisky fest, and an outdoor BBQ smokehouse. Later each evening, the party moves to the Commodore Ballroom where acts such as Kameron Marlowe and The War and Treaty will be performing.
