Things To Do In Vancouver – February 2023
Wendy Underwood
We are hitting our stride now that we’re nice and comfy into 2023, and Vancouver’s cultural calendar is filling up with every day that passes. From art shows and pop culture conquests to musical interludes and outdoor ventures – we’re tackling a fun assortment of activities this February. It may be a short month, but it’s jam-packed with plenty to do.
Deanna Dikeman: Leaving and Waving
Through April 2
Have a mini-vacation during your vacation! Hop on the SeaBus from Waterfront Station across to North Vancouver for a day in the Lower Lonsdale neighbourhood, complete with craft brewery tastings and market strolls. But the piece de resistance has to be a visit to the Polygon Gallery to catch Deanna Dikeman: Leaving and Waving, an intimate photography exhibit where we witness Dikeman’s parents throughout their twilight years.
Fan Expo Vancouver
February 18 to 20
Rememberthat time you were in Vancouver and met Carl Weathers, Anthony Daniels (C-3PO himself!), Sean Astin from Lord of the Rings, and Brent Spiner, Data from Star Trek? Yeah. That was February 2023 at Fan Expo Vancouver, an epic bonanza of pop culture entertainment.
VMF Winter Arts 2023
February 16 to 26
Downtown Vancouver becomes a free, open-air gallery with the VMF Winter Art Fest, presented by the crew who created the city’s popular Vancouver Mural Fest! We’re particularly looking forward to the Bentall Centre’s laser light animations and sculpture displays, plus their late-night pop-up exhibitions and other celebratory events.
Damien Jurado at The Wise Hall
February 23
Seattle-based Damien Jurado is known for his intimate sound: warm vocals with gentle instrumentation, found sound and field recordings, and tethering adoring audiences into his soundscape and world. The Wise Hall is the pitch-perfect venue to swaddle yourself in his world.
