Things to Do in Vancouver – January 2025
Wendy Underwood
January is a funny month because we’re both physically and financially spent after the holidays. But we’re also excited about the year ahead and turning over a new leaf and all of those sorts of things too! Along with all of the outdoor activities up on Vancouver’s three local ski mountains, and the annual Dine Out Vancouver Festival, here are some of our picks for fun things to do in Vancouver this January.
PWHL Takeover Tour at Rogers Arena
January 8
Diving into its second season, the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) comes to Vancouver on its Takeover Tour this January. The Montréal Victoire and Toronto Sceptres will face off at Rogers Arena (a short walk from The Burrard) bringing some of the world’s top hockey talent to Vancouver, including Canadian national team captain Marie-Philip Poulin (also the captain of the Victoire), and fellow Olympian Sarah Nurse of the Sceptres.
Free Spirit! Non-Alc Tasting Event
January 16
Diving into Dry January and already sick of your options? The Free Spirit! walk-around tasting event will introduce you to your new favourite booze-free beverage, whether it’s a craft beer from local favourites like Nonny or Strange Fellows, ready-to-drink cocktails from Ghia or Edna‘s, local and international zero-proof wines, and so much more! Enjoy nibbles from DownLow Burgers, and on your way out, stock up on your faves from the evening at the on-site Drive Canteen pop-up shop.
Iliza: The Get Ready Tour
January 17
Whether you know her from one of her six (count them!) Netflix stand-up specials, or from her podcast, Ask Iliza Anything, Iliza Shlesinger is one of North America’s most popular comedians. Inspiring the sort of adoring fans that make their own merch and wear it to her shows, Iliza’s Get Ready Tour promises to serve up her trademark blunt style of elder Millennial feminist comedy packed with quirky characters.
TABOO – The Everything To Do With Sex Show
January 31 – February 2
Described as an “upscale adult playground,” the annual TABOO show seeks to promote romance, enhance your lifestyle and encourage personal growth along with “all things taboo.” Expect marketplace vendors, seminars, demonstrations, and entertainment including the “Sexy Circus” on the Friday and Saturday nights. This event is licenced and therefore admission is restricted to those 19 and older.
