Does the thought of January fill you with exhaustion after a too-busy December? Or are you revved-up about the year ahead? Maybe a little of column A and a little of column B? Us too! Along with all of the outdoor activities up on Vancouver’s three local ski mountains, and the annual Dine Out Vancouver Festival, here are four fun things to do in Vancouver this January.

Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival
January 17 – February 14
When the chilly weather hits, there’s nothing sweeter than warming our hands around a mug of hot chocolate, the steam fogging our glasses! And it becomes even more satisfying during the annual Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival that runs from mid-January through until Valentine’s Day. Details for this year’s festival haven’t been revealed yet, but in 2025, there were 124 cafes, bakeries, restaurants and chocolatiers participating from White Rock to Whistler, bringing their hot choc A-game with 180 different creations. Grab the map from the website, and set off to sample a number of these delicious mugs in a day with the excuse that you’re participating in a festival

Arts Club Theatre presents “You’re Just a Place That I Know”
January 21 – February 1
A theatrical musical concert, You’re Just a Place That I Know tells the story of JUNO-nominated singer-songwriter Adrian Glynn McMorran’s Ukrainian grandparents, who started a new life in Montreal after fleeing the Ukraine during World War II. Performed by Glynn McMorran, a seven-piece band and a multigenerational choir, the production explores themes of ancestry and generational connection through song and story.

PuSh International Performing Arts Festival
January 22 – February 8
Vancouver’s annual PuSh International Performing Arts Festival stands as the year’s first major cultural festival, and as it has since 2003, it showcases work from contemporary local, national and international artists, pushing the boundaries in live performance art. The event uniquely brings together highly-curated, multidisciplinary and critically acclaimed work from different disciplines under the umbrella of a single festival.

The Wellness Show
January 31 – February 1
Whether you’re a raw food vegan looking for your tribe, or just interested in learning more about alternative therapies and eating healthier, you’ll find what you’re looking for at The Wellness Show. Along with browsing the 200+ vendor booths, you’ll also want to plan your visit to make the most of the programming on the stages. Check out celebrity chefs demonstrating delectable dishes; seminars on topics such as aging, gut health, menopause and kinesiology; and an Active Living Zone with fun, interactive physical challenges.
