Things to Do in Vancouver - March 2021

March brings the first hints of spring to Vancouver, and while the weather can still be brisk, you’ll notice cherry blossoms eagerly starting to bloom by the end of the month. This March sees the Junos come to town, the beginning of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations (including Celticfest), and spring break for the kids! With so many events packed into March, here are our four top picks to make the most of your time in Vancouver this month.

The Art of Banksy Without Limits
Through May 25
Arguably the world’s most famous street artist, the anonymous Banksy has delighted and confounded the world with their subversive murals, graffiti, sculpture and installations over the years. The Art of Banksy Without Limits brings over 200 pieces of the artist’s work to Vancouver in an immersive experience in Gastown. Explore the Infinity Room’s mirrored space, a simulation of “Dismaland” – Banksy’s gritty pop-up amusement park, a new hologram installation, and more.

Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show
March 1 & 2
The annual Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show is a must for both intrepid travellers and outdoor enthusiasts. Held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, this event brings together destinations from as close as Squamish and the Fraser Valley, and as far away as the Himalayas, along with adventure travel outfitters, tour operators, camping equipment suppliers, SCUBA schools, a climbing wall and more. The show is also twinned with the BC Bike Show so if you’re looking to get your mitts on a new set of wheels, there’s no better place to be.

Brewski at Cypress Mountain
March 15 & 16
While the weather and snow conditions might change overnight, one thing Cypress Mountain can always depend on is that skiers still enjoy a cold brewski at the end of the day! Brewski celebrates this classic match-up with tastings on the mountain between 12 pm and 3 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Your ski pass gets you a wrist band (19+ only) so you can check out the local beer, cider, seltzer, and non-alc options on hand.

Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival
March 26 – April 28
As the city’s streets burst into blossom, the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival brings together a collection of events that both celebrate and appreciate this delicate, seasonal attraction. From pottery workshops to tree talks, blossom bike routes, neighbourhood pop-ups and a Haiku contest, there are lots of smaller, personal ways to get acquainted with the sea of pink petals that envelops Vancouver each spring. But if you’re looking to go big, the festival’s headlining events are the way to go! The Big Picnic and Blossoms After Dark at David Lam Park serve to kick-off the festival, while Sakura Days at VanDusen Botanical Garden celebrate all things Japanese.
