Things to Do in Vancouver – October 2025
Wendy Underwood

Chunky sweaters, crisp leaves underfoot, thick books to get lost in, and of course, all things pumpkin-spiced – you name it, we’re ready for fall! You’ll find that Vancouver has no shortage of autumn-friendly activities, from harvest festivals to the start of the city’s vibrant arts season. And of course, the further we get into October, the more that’s out there to give us a little Halloween fright! Here are our top recommendations for what to experience in Vancouver this October.

Canada Super 60 Cricket Tournament
October 8 – 13
An international sport that is huge in other parts of the Commonwealth like Britain, India and Australia, cricket has never been that big in Canada. Until now? The Canada Super 60 cricket tournament brings together players from around the world to play short matches (around 90 minutes), where each team faces just 60 balls (10 overs, each with 6 balls). The tournament includes eight teams—two women’s teams, and six men’s squads—with each day including multiple matches, all played at BC Place Stadium in downtown Vancouver.

HowlOver Canada
October 9 – 31
Back for some family-friendly spooky fun again this year, Flyover at Canada Place is running its HowlOver Canada show, and kids get to fly for free! This multi-sensory experience has you soaring with Biker Mama on her tricked-out broomstick, along with her ghoulish buddies as they fly over Canada on a supernatural journey. Watch the trailer here and then book your tickets! While kids (13 and under) get to enjoy the adventure for free, you will need to still book a ticket for them.

Vancouver Outsider Art Festival
October 10 – 12
Broaden your artistic perspective at the 9th annual Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival, being held at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Yaletown this month. Highlighting the talents of visual artists and performers working beyond the mainstream, the event offers a unique chance to discover new talent. The opening night is free to everyone, giving you the first look at works from over 400 artists in the main exhibit hall, which is then open throughout the weekend. There are also live performances that are part of the festival, and a satellite exhibition at The Gathering Place from October 11 – November 23.

UBC Apple Festival
October 18 & 19
We can never get enough of the annual UBC Apple Festival! It seems like such a perfect activity for the fall, where we can’t wait to wrap our hands around a mug of hot apple cider, and wander the stalls in the crisp, autumnal air. BC grows lots of apples, and the festival is the place to try varieties you’ve never seen before in the Tasting Tent, stock up on apples, buy fruit trees, and learn more about everything pomme while you enjoy fall treats. Last year you could sample over 50 varieties and purchase bags of more than 35 different kinds. Not only does this family-friendly event has face painting for the kids, and entertainment for all ages, but there’s also a giant leaf pile to play in!
