Things to Do in Vancouver – October 2026
Wendy Underwood
Looking for things to do in Vancouver in October? It’s the time of year when we swap our swimsuits for cozy sweaters, our lemonade for a steaming mug of apple cider, and look for a place to curl up with a good book. Vancouver has no shortage of autumn-friendly activities, from harvest festivals to the start of the city’s vibrant arts season. And of course, the further we get into October, the more that’s out there to give us a little Halloween fright! Here are our top recommendations for what to experience in Vancouver this October.
Harvest Haus at the PNE

October 2 & 3
For one weekend, the PNE is transformed into a slice of Bavaria as we celebrate Oktoberfest! Harvest Haus is a rollicking good time with brews, brats and beats, big on vibes and Germanic good times. Either purchase general admission tickets, or for the VIP experience, book a table. Everyone gets a souvenir beer stein, access to the marketplatz of food vendors, bars serving more than 25 beer, wine and spirit options, and entertainment that spans oompah bands to danceable DJ tunes.
HowlOver Canada

October 15 – 31
Back for some family-friendly spooky fun again this year, Flyover at Canada Place is running its HowlOver Canada show. This multi-sensory experience has you soaring with Biker Mama on her tricked-out broomstick, along with her ghoulish buddies as they fly over Canada on a supernatural journey. Watch the trailer here and then book your tickets! Kids (13 and under) get a free HowlOver plushie, and while you’re there, check out the scavenger hunt and the special menus of “brews and potions” at the cafe.
The Baby Show

October 17 & 18
A natural excuse for a Vancouver babymoon, The Baby Show arrives at the Vancouver Convention Centre in mid-October. Over two days, modern parents and parents-to-be can check out the newest products from big brands as well as local independent sellers. And it’s not just a marketplace—there will also be workshops, demonstrations and seminars catering to those parenting newborns through to toddlers. For those toting a toddler, Bluey will be making an appearance so stop by to take a photo!
UBC Apple Festival

October 17 & 18
We can never get enough of the annual UBC Apple Festival! It seems like such a perfect activity for the fall, where we can’t wait to wrap our hands around a mug of hot apple cider, and wander the stalls in the crisp, autumnal air. BC grows lots of apples, and the festival is the place to try varieties you’ve never seen before in the Tasting Tent, stock up on apples, buy fruit trees, and learn more about everything pomme while you enjoy fall treats. Last year you could sample over 50 varieties and purchase bags of more than 35 different kinds. Not only does this family-friendly event has face painting for the kids, and entertainment for all ages, but there’s also a giant leaf pile to play in!
