Upcoming Event: Vancouver International Jazz Festival, June 20 – July 1, 2025
Wendy Underwood

One of North America’s biggest jazz festivals, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival attracts an audience of around 100,000 music fans each year, with a line-up that spans traditional jazz, through soul, blues, R&B and electronic artists.
This year will be no different as the festival celebrates its 40th anniversary! The Richard Bona Asante Trio has been announced as one of the festival’s marquee performances, along with the Bill Frisell Trio with Thomas Morgan & Rudy Royston. Other big names include Nubya Garcia, New Jazz Underground, Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, and Immanuel Wilkins with Lutosławski Quartet.
We love that the Vancouver International Jazz Festival is truly accessible to everyone, with a mix of ticketed and free events. On June 21 and 22, you can catch free shows on two stages outside the Vancouver Art Gallery, while a new downtown partnership with Bentall Centre includes free “happy hour” performances each afternoon from 4 pm – 6 pm, June 23 through 27. Head to Granville Island on Canada Day, July 1, for a full day of free concerts at Ocean Artworks. And in addition to these performances, there are also five free music workshops at Tom Lee Music downtown and three free artist talks at the Western Front in East Vancouver.
