Things to Do in Vancouver – November 2024
Wendy Underwood
While November’s weather usually takes a turn for the worse in Vancouver, with all the events, festivals and general goings-on, it’s actually a great time to visit our city. This month, we have two annual events: the Circle Craft Holiday Market and Eastside Culture Crawl, but this year they’re joined by the Grey Cup mid-month! And beyond those three options, there’s plenty more. Below we’ve put together our picks for other things to do in Vancouver in November.
Cirque du Soleil’s “ECHO”
Through January 5, 2025
Cirque du Soleil’s 20th big-top production, ECHO explores the symbiotic connection between humans and the animal kingdom, indulging in Cirque’s signature brand of fantasy, whimsy and surrealism. As always, you can expect amazing, athletic performances, high production values, and lots of creativity. If you’re going before November 24, check out the 25% off fall ticket promotion, while groups of four qualify for the family deal.
North Shore Craft Beer Week
November 1 – 15
The craft beer scene on Vancouver’s North Shore is so strong that not only does it have its own craft beer week, but a craft beer “week” that actually stretches for a fortnight! On each of the first 14 nights (November 1 – 14), a different North Shore brewery (plus one cidery and two distilleries) holds a feature night, with everything from new beer releases and food specials, through to Viking Night at Braggot Brewing and Board Games Night at House of Funk. On November 15, all parties come together for a wrap-party, with live music and food trucks as well.
Lumière Festival
November 7 – 10
With nightfall coming earlier every evening, the annual Lumière light festival is a most welcome event to brighten up the daily darkness. Consisting of a series of 29 interactive light displays in 11 locations throughout the West End, financial district, Gastown and Yaletown, Lumière brings together works from 75 artists illuminating Vancouver’s downtown peninsula. Free and open to everyone, the festival is on from 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm each night. Among the works already announced are the interactive light and sound installation Vortex Incandescent at Yaletown’s Bill Curtis Square, and the op-art inspired Kinetic Perspective at Šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square by the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Dance in Vancouver
November 20 – 24
The 14th biennial Dance In Vancouver series is a celebration of British Columbia’s own contemporary dance scene, culminating in five days of performances, studio showings and other events. Based at the Scotiabank Dance Centre (a five-minute stroll from The Burrard), DIV also serves as a showcase to highlight local dance talent to curators and performers from around the world.
